Research labs

Students of Materials Engineering are supported by numerous laboratories, in the context of teaching (‘teaching laboratories‘) and in the context of research aimed at experimental degree theses (‘research laboratories‘). They can also make use of the Computer Labs, of the “Enrico Bernardi” Industrial Engineering Library, and of a mechanical workshop. The laboratories occupy a total area of ​​over 4500 square meters and are equipped with modern equipment and instruments at the international state of the art. By way of example, in the period 2010-16 the Department of Industrial Engineering invested over 4 million Euros in new technical-scientific plants and equipment for research and teaching, largely financed by private entities and industrial companies.

Research laboratory of Chemical Bioengineering

Supervisor: Prof. Andrea Bagno

The experimental activities offered to Materials Engineering students during the thesis process concern the treatment of biological tissues and the production of hybrid materials and their structural and mechanical characterization. The materials are mainly intended for cardiovascular applications.
