Using a strictly analytical approach, I am developing a model for salient-pole synchronous generators designed to determine the machine reactances Xd, Xq, and those characterizing the transient and subtransient phases resulting from the short-circuit phenomenon. The model’s accuracy is verified through a double comparison: with experimental results and with estimates obtained through finite element analysis.
