The Materials Engineering curriculum is a fundamental track of the PhD Programme in Industrial Engineering (Cycle 42), dedicated to the study and development of new materials and associated production technologies. The program aims to train high-level researchers capable of addressing complex industrial challenges through the acquisition of advanced knowledge and multidisciplinary skills. This path prepares professionals for leadership roles in the manufacturing industry, advanced tertiary sector, and public or private research centers, focusing on the innovation of materials and processes.
The curriculum focuses on the properties, processing, and application of materials. Key research areas include:
- Advanced Materials & Nanotechnologies: Study and development of innovative materials and nanostructured systems.
- Characterization & Testing: Advanced techniques for the structural and functional characterization of materials.
- Production Processes: Analysis and optimization of innovative manufacturing technologies.
- Simulation & Databases: Utilization of specialized software and databases such as Total Materia and CES EduPack (implied in educational resources) for material selection and property analysis.
